Home!

I’m just starting to process my photographs from the Ghan / Alice Springs / Uluru part of my trip. Arrived back this morning on a QantasConnect (“National Air” but with Qantas Connect paint job) 717. Lovely flight over central Australia, saw a lot of waterways and salt lakes – many with water in them. Very green at the moment. Landing in Perth was quite bumpy due to wind, plane waving all over the place.

I thought I’d dig out my old software which plots where I’ve been by air on the Winkel-Tripel projection, so here it is:

This last trip was thus (roughly) 4092 km by air (assuming great circle routes). There was another ~ 1000km of bus travel to and from and around Uluru. Add to that the 1500km trip on the Ghan train from Adelaide to Alice Springs, and I covered about 6500km on this trip!
